I've done this as well. they also added a feature where you can change the colour of your civilization so that it has a higher contrast with the map. Run the game in borderless window and use the Windows screen magnifier in game and learn all the keyboard shortcuts. I'm pretty sure every single type of unit has a special sound effect that it makes when you have it selected, which is super useful. It's actually become one of my favourite games to play for its ease of use.
