Any rowers out there (self.Blind)
submitted by Bachelor-pad-72
I use a concept two with a PM five
I would like to know what are the steps you go through to record your 2k
If you use ErgData is it good enough to just start rowing and wait till you hear that you’re over 2000 m
I’m hoping there’s a better way to do it where the metres are sort of counted down for you

Hey there,

I am going to assume that you are on an iPhone. Here are the steps to set up a two k workout.

First make sure the ErgData app is running and connected to your pm5. Then press press the following buttons on the monitor:

1. The vertical buttons on the right side, I will mark the one on the top as number one.
2. Press the menu button twice to make sure you are on the home screen. This is the big button on the bottom left corner.
3. Press button number two once.
4. Press button number for once.
5. Press button number one once.
6. Now you are in the set distance menu. The default distance is 2000m. To confirm just press button number five. This is the button right above the large menu button.

Now you can look at your phone and the distance should be saying 2000m. Start rowing and if you have voice notifications enabled it will notify you as the meters are counting down.

I am on mobile currently but I can write up a guide for you to set up other workouts, too. Like intervals and so on.

Thank you very much friend this is so useful and
That is fine thank you for the offer though all I want to do is be able to take a 2K test periodically to track my hopeful improvements

Sure. If you are a beginner, I highly recommend this program:

https://thepeteplan.wordpress.com/beginner-training/

If you want to improve your 2k, you will definitely need to add some interval training to your routine. You just need to memorize, or write down a few of the button sequences, and then it is really easy to set up various workouts. Let me know if you ever need help setting up a particular workout.

This is perfect thank you very much would you be able to give me the sequence of button presses I need to set up week one’s work out

Sure. Again, the button number one is top right, two is the one below it and so on.

Day 1 - 5k
- Press the Menu button (bottom right corner) multiple times to make sure you are in the home screen.
- Press button number two.
- Press button number four
- Press button number one
- Press button number two, three times.
- Press button number 5 to confirm.
- Check phone to make sure 5000m is set as the distance.

(to make this shorter, will just put the numberse without description now :) )
Day 2 - 6x500m intervals with 2 minute rest:

- Press menu button multiple times to make sure you are in the home screen.
- 2, 4, 4, 4, 3, 1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 5, 3, 5, 3, 5, 3, 5, 3, 5, 3, 1, 1, 1, 1, 3, 3, 5, 5.

Day 3 is the same as day 1.

Day 4 - 20 minutes workout - I am not super sure about this one since it's been a while since I did a timed workout but, the sequence should be the following

- Menu a few times to go to home screen
- 2, 4, 2, 3, 5.

Basically, when you are in the main menu, pressing button number 2 takes you to select workout. Then, button 4 takes you to New workout. Now, in this menu you have:

- 1 - Distance workout
- 2 Time workout
- 3 - Calories workout
- 4 - Intervals

If you place 1, you are taken to the distance setup screen. The default distance is 2000m and the currenet selected digit is the 2. The buttons do the following:

- 1 - select one digit to the right
- 2 - increase selected digit by one
- 3 - decrease selected digit by one
- 4 - move one digit to the left
- 5 - confirm distance

So, to set a distance of 3500m for example, you need to press button 2 once to increase the 2, to a three. Then go right once by pressing button number one, and press button nubmer 2 give times. That's how you get 3500m.

The same thing applies when you are in the Time screen if you want a timed workout, (so if you press, 2, 4, 2 from the home screen), and the initial, default set time is 30:00 minutes. The initial selected digit is the 3. The same controls to modify the digits applies from above, so to make the starting 30:00 minutes to 32:30 minutes for example, you first press button number one once, then button number 2 twice, then button number one again, and and then button number two three times. Finally press button number 5 to confirm.

Intervals are a little bit longer, but same principles apply, let me know if you want me to also share the details on those.
