How do I tell if a show on Netflix has audio description? (self.Blind)
submitted by throwaway153463
Is there any way to tell if a show on Netflix has audio description without having to play it? I know there is a way to just see all shows with audio description but is there any way to see if a show has it from its page?

It shows up in the audio settings, and once you have turned AD on for one show, it persists for all shows until you turn it off. One nice thing is that all Netflix originals will have audio description. You can always check the $1 website from the ACB to quickly and accessibly find out what movies and shows have AD.

Netflix also has an $1.

Not Netflix, but Hulu added a category of shows/movies with audio descriptions.

On my shieldTV, I can always check language and subtitle availability, before I play a movie or a show. I wish, they would do the same for the iOS app.

a) There's a specific audio description section of Netflix.

b) If you click on the show 90% of the time theres a message before the show synopsis that says "audio description is available" (not available) for this program.

If you are using Netflix app on your iPhone, you need to go into accessibility options and turn on description when available option, then you might need to also go into the menu once something is playing, and enable and if it has audio it will do it

Do you mean an overall accessibility Settings area? I couldn’t find one and contacted support and they said it was only per show or movie. But please let me know if there Actually is one.

If you go on to general, accessibility then down to audio description it’s below voiceover I think

Settings → Accessibility → Audio Descriptions.

I se I thought this was something in the app itself.

If your device is set to prefer audio descriptions, as soon as you open a title in streaming video apps (including Netflix) that offer audio description in your primary language, it will default to using the audio description track rather than the standard audio track. It will also set a preference for audio descriptions on the Netflix website.

I wasn't sure if you knew about the audio description setting.

If you just search "audio description," all the content comes up, or at least it did when I last checked (I keep it permanently open in quarantine).

I thought in the audio options it would show up there?

I honestly just googled each film because that was quicker and less disappointing than going to each one individually on Netflix.
