How do you feel about 8D sound? (self.Blind)
submitted by vikaspineapples
Recently there have been a lot of discussions around 8D sound and I wanted to hear what you guys think about it. Here is an example: $1

To feel the difference, you have to wear headphones.

I like it a lot. Check out the Virtual Haircut. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUDTlvagjJA

I don't get it. What's the appeal here? It just sounds like someone is recording a speaker and spinning the mic around every few seconds

Agree. Some people say it seems like the music is played in your room on the big speaker. Doesn’t it make you dizzy or uncomfortable though? Can’t listen to it for long personally.

It makes me so uncomfortable and uneasy!! Like the effect is amazing at how realistic it sounds, but I can’t deal with it! I feel like I’m tripping or something lol

I don't know why it would be desirable for music to be panning around and around. Its a cool effect but I got over it by the second song.

it's pretty weird. I would only really use it with drama though I think. For music it's just odd, and TV/film is something I haven't gotten into wearing headphones for.

So you would only use it for dramatic effects so to say?

yes. It's a neat effect for music but used spacially it would make dramatic performances interesting.

I love 8d music. 😊

Kinda trippy, can hear the reflections off the virtual walls. It really sounds like the sound is going on right around you, like you're not even wearing headphones.

The music thing is a nice gimmick, but what I'm really excited for is the day the ASMR community gets a handle on it. I really like the immersive aspect of audio technology like that, especially when it feels like there's someone in the room with me. The 3d binaural audio that many people use is still really cool, but this is a definite step up.
