New podcast discussing similarities between blind and faceblind people in recognizing others. (self.Blind)
submitted by gtdjeff
Hi all. I have a condition called prosopagnosia AKA faceblindness. I posted a request for a blind guest in this subreddit, and Matt Johnson answered the call. You might find our conversation fun and interesting. Listen at the link below or find Faceblind wherever you get podcasts.

Just listened to the podcast and really enjoyed it. I am also a blind guy named Matt, and I’m thinking of studying law when I’m older

I’m a rehab teacher of students with visual impairments. I also have face blindness, so I found this episode particularly enjoyable.
I have found now that I work with adults, I often get asked by my clients if I am visually impaired. It’s a difficult question to answer because while I don’t have a reduced acuity or visual field, I do have to use strategies to interact with people in public.
There is a school of thought that says face blindness is a form of cortical visual impairment. I don’t feel as though I am visually impaired because I still use vision as my primary method for gathering information, but I feel as though perhaps I have a glimpse into some of the ‘fake it till you make it’ moments you guys discussed during this episode.
Good job!
