Text Slides in a YouTube video (self.Blind)
submitted by IdahoVandal
Hey all,

I had a question about text slides in a YouTube video. The instructor's narration covers the general text of the slides, but he does not read them ver batim.

My thought is he needs to add a descriptive audio track that include ver batim text of each slide. Or he needs to provide students with the powerpoint file used to create the video and make sure everything is tagged correctly.

The instructor's question is if a screen reader can read the text in the images in his YouTube video. I'm pretty sure this wont work, but checking with all you dedicated screen reader users to see if I'm right, or if you all have any suggestions.

Thanks!

If you opened the video in full screen, you could use OCR to read the text, but it would be much easier and more accessible if the instructor provided the text to the blind students.

Is it important for the blind students to have it verbatim?

I'd honestly just prefer a transcript of the slides with time tags or something if there's not an audible sign of him swapping slides.
