Door Dash, Uber Eats, or Similar Service? (self.Blind)
submitted by rogerian_salsa
I have a neighbor who is legally blind and wants to order food through a service like Door Dash. What service should he use? How should he go about doing this?

See the *Accessibility Comments* sections on AppleVis for $1 and $1.

I've personally tested UberEats with VoiceOver and it is fine. Per those two pages above, it looks like UberEats may work slightly better than DoorDash especially during initial signup.

Bottom line, both services are pretty similar and either will work. If they already use Uber to travel, then they already have an UberEats account thus removing some friction from the process.

As far as voiceover accessibility, I have had success with UberEats and Grub Hub. I have pay pal setup as my payment method as that's easier than putting in all your card info... When I'm placing an order, I put a note asking them to please ring the doorbell. I have had pretty good luck all in all.

I don't have anything to say about the accessibility of the apps themselves but when leaving a comment or a note informing the driver of my VI they more often than not just ignore the comment. Sometimes they'll get to my building and call me asking me to come out to meet them and I have to tell them I'd rather not do that in the dead of night because I can't see and then they'll finally make the effort to try and find my place and treat me accordingly. This is just my experience and it may differ by location.
