Anyone know where I could learn to play the banjo? (self.Blind)
submitted by WarriorPrincess31
Hi,
I am totally blind, and have been all my life.
I think I have a passion for the sound of bluegrass and clawhammer banjo style.
However, all the videos I've found so far on youtube are quite visual, but I'd really love to learn to play the banjo.
Does anyone know of an accessible website, or of a person who would be willing to teach me by zoom or phone or something?
Thanks for any responses that I get
Stay safe out there!

I know many instruments including the guitar, unfortuanetly I couldn't help you learn banjo from my own mind but I can help you with the visuals of a video you'd like to learn from. While I am legally blind I could see and explain the visuals of videos you need help with. Reach out to me in private message if that interests you :)

My semi-pro friend wrote that she learned from, and played with, these guys:

Bill Brown made a lot of recordings for different instruments. The NLS library has a lot of material from him.

I go through the Veteran Affairs for all my blind needs, but what they did when I got involved with instrument playing was give me an instructional CD to listen to while I'm practicing.
