Needing New Goggles for Photophobic Eyes(self.Blind)
submitted by ABlindManPlays
Hello all, I have an advanced form of keratoconus, which in addition to scrambling my eyesight, makes me EXTREMELY photophobic due to the thin corneas. I find myself in need of new goggles, as the strap keeps breaking on the old ones.
I need something that really blocks out the light, no-fog, and with good elasticity for my oversized noggin. Hoping to keep the cost under $100. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I use complete cover solar shields over my RX prism sunglasses and while it doesn't completely eliminate the eye and head pain is the best solution I have found for my photophbia outdoors. I don't know your situation but I have regular constant eye strain resulting is headaches anyways so your mileage may very and has not help with screens still have to use black screen.

I also have Keratoconus quite badly and i use 01 amber NoIR glasses with a full wrap around when outside, the amber also helps me with colour contrast.
They have venting to avoid fogging, allow you to disable the auto-darkening if you go to a darker environment, have adjustable darkening, and seem very futuristic.

Noir has sunglasses (meant for over glasses) that have side and top shields, and come in a variety of strengths. Solar Shields also has the top and side shields, but not sure if they are strong enough for you.

Forgive me for my ignorance, but do you mean goggles for swimming or like Rec Specs for day to day use?

Day-to-day use. It's the only way I can go out in the sunlight. Regular glasses do not cut it as the light gets in from the side and the glare can be equally painful. The last pair of goggles I had were costume goggles, but they fogged over quite a bit and then the strap kept breaking.

Julbo ( Julbo Glacier is one offering) makes sunglasses with leather or plastic side shields. The glasses are snug fitting to eliminate light entering from the top and sides. Very effective for light sensitivity.

Have you tried NoIR lenses? They have full wrap around and the lenses can be tinted quite dark for people with photophobia.
