This game is absolutely amazing. I actually gave up on the original back when it came out because everything was spoiled for me. Read the script a few months ago just to catch up before the remake This remake is fantastic. I'm nearly done, and there are definetely definitely a few scenes where I wasn't quite sure what was happening. More mostly happened during a certain character's visions, but in other places too. Still a fantastic reimagining of a classic story. If you end up continuing with it, I'll absolutely watch these.

Definitely continuing with this one. Shame it got spoiled for you when you were younger! I remember some parts of the game, but forgot quite a bit of it. Funny how this is one of those games, for me at least, that I remember more of the feel of it, than the actual story & characters.

I think it was revolutionary for its time, but I also think there's been a whole lot of much better stuff since. It's like the Lord of the Rings: majorly influential, but surpassed by stories which used it as inspiration. I'm actually a little annoyed because the city in the novel I'm currently writing has a similar multy-layered structure to Midgar, though in mine no part of the undercity is open to the sky. I worry people will think I was ripping Midgar off' even though I actually knew very little about it when I started writing. Anyway back to Final Fantasy VII: My friend was playing it at the time and pretty much told me everything that happened beyond where I was playing. And by the time I decided maybe I should just play it anyway, Zenogears came out. And I still hold that THAT RPG has one of the best stories of all time, even now.

Well said, about the game. In my humble opinion, I wouldn't worry too much about the Midgar stuff being similar to your novel brother, even if you get questions from others about it. You didn't know about the similarity to begin with, and your version is more than likely different enough to separate it enough.

I recently thought about that Xenogears game not too long ago, something came up on the Switch Eshop that made me think about that conversation.

Yes, I’m not too terribly concerned about it. As It is quite a bit different in composition and history, though archatecturally Midgar might be better. It gives me a bit of inspiration at least.

Xenogears really is great. Not as cinematically as great as Xenogears, but it tells a really complex and layered story. Amazing music too. Gameplay wise it's a mixed bag. Battle is really fun, as are the other RPG systems. But there is also platforming. That is ... something else entirely.
