I walked 5KM for CNIB Guide Dogs! (self.Blind)
submitted by visuallyvictoria
Hi guys, just wanted to say that I completed my 5K CNIB Pup Crawl a couple days ago. It's basically a 5KM fundraiser that goes towards the CNIB's (Canadian National Institure for the Blind) guide dogs. It was launched on International Guide Dog Day (April 29th) and you have one month to complete the 5K if you wish to participate.

I have been legally blind since 2018 and do not require mobility assistance (white cans, guide dogs) but I wanted to participate in the Pup Crawl to give other blind and visually impaired people the opportunity to get the guide dogs they need.

I have provided the link below if you would like to participate. It is open to anyone!

I wish you the best!

That's awesome! I'm in the US but any events/fundraisers for guide dogs in any country are a worthwhile thing;especially right now.

I appreciate where your heart is and think overall it's a great idea. However, I personally have a lot of issues with the CNIB dog guide program and would recommend anyone considering it to look into the many other respected and long-established schools in Canada. I really don't want to diminish your effort and at the end of the day it means someone will be getting a dog guide, but I'd recommend any other program over theirs.
