Asking for cordless handsets speech assist recommendation?(self.Blind)
submitted by PhunbunniesPapa
Howdy, I'm asking for any recommendations for cordless phone handsets that also offer speech assist functions? It's for my niece who is legally blind. She'd like to have speech assist on the handset like for storing contacts or the handset speaking out the contact who is calling. Any ideas? Thanks.

Most blind people find the iPhone easier to use than Android.... They are both accessible though. I'd also recommend she use a smart speaker like an Echo or Google Home.

I’d personally recommend the latest IPhone se2020 but android works quite well and can be quite cheep.
Applevis.com is a great website for the screen reader on the IPhone.

Is there any particular reason why you couldn't just buy her, or have her buy herself an iPhone or an Android phone? They offer sooo much more than just telling you who's calling...
That's all right, I can't see the screen either and I am using Talkback with Android. It basically speaks out to you the stuff that goes on on the screen, you can put your finger down on the screen and it'll tell you what you're touching. Get her eeither an iPhone or an Android phone (iPhone if she's a total noob at this which looks like she is, since I hear it's easier for new people) and turn on voiceover.
