Accessible coding bootcamps? (self.Blind)
submitted by chicklitter
Hey there. My husband's blind and has been having a hell of a time trying to find accessible coding bootcamps. He's been doing Free Code Camp, but we've been wondering if anyone knows of any other resources out there. I work in tech marketing. I've Googled. I've asked the engineers I know. I've asked the community managers I know. Unfortunately accessibility isn't something high on a lot of people's lists (don't get me started), or when it comes to coding bootcamps it isn't something they've really thought a lot about because it doesn't pertain to them. So I figured I would come to you awesome people and ask.

Hi. I'm a software engineer. His best bet is probably to do his own learning, or attend an in person bootcamp. If he doesn't have a subscription to BookShare, he should get one. Also, listening to the inaccessible videos can still be helpful to learn the overall concepts. Then just read up to fill in the blanks.

Happy to answer any other questions. I am a software engineer myself and am totally blind.

Maybe take some classes at ur local community college and get accommodations for the classes there, but idk if it would work. Worth a shot tho
