Has anyone heard of this?
They say in five years, it will be ready to be used for full sight, but right now, it’s being tested, and they say that people can identify letters correctly

I think it's based on the concept of cochlear implants, which have been used for deaf people for decades. It's not the same as natural hearing, but it's gotten very good. (I'm not deaf, but work in special education with deaf students)
