Not sure if this is a voice-over problem (self.Blind)
submitted by autistictechgirl1990
Hi was wondering if someone could help me. I have an iPhone 7 running the latest iOS, but since I updated I can’t play any audio in Safari, it still works on other apps like YouTube. Wondering how I can fix this, I tried installing chrome and still had the same problem with no sound and I can’t restore to the last back up now because it was over a week ago that I updated, thanks

What do you mean by "audio"? Is the audio MP3 files, YouTube videos or players embedded into websites?

I think it’s the ones that are embedded in the websites because the YouTube app is working fine but can’t hear sound on the YouTube website. And Reddit is working if there is a link to YouTube it opens in the app or plays a video

Are you tapping on the "tap to unmute" button? You have to do that.

Yes but it only has that option on YouTube

Can you provide a link? Some players just aren't accessible on iOS.

If you focus on the Video, you should get Rotor Actions. Vertically swiping will switch between media controls like Rewind, Play/Pause, Fast Forward, and Toggle Mute. Most videos and Gifs with embedded audio are muted by default since that is the proper accessible thing to do. Just find the Video, swipe vertically until you hear the Toggle Mute option, and then double-tap to unmute the video. You may have to vertically swipe back to the default Play/Pause option to continue playing or to start the media.
