How can blind people tell their sexuality? (self.Blind)

Looks aren't everything. There are plenty of secondary sexual characteristics and social behaviors that you use to measure your attraction to others. It's hard to pin it down on any particular thing, but I can tell you that I'm fairly certain I'm gay. I just know based on the experiences I've had with women compared to men (I much prefer the former).

Think about someone's voice. That alone can tell you a lot about how attracted you are to someone, and it isn't based on how they look.

Thank you for this answer, it was very helpful!

I was about to write a comment but read this and this describes it perfectly

It's not difficult for us, our criteria are just different. We might be more inclined to be interested in a personality than a certain type of appearance.

I'm filing this under weird questions. Let's try an experiment. Imagine you're hanging out with someone you're really attracted to. Close your eyes. Still attracted to that person? Still not interested in the other gender?

How on earth do people even get these weird ideas!

I think it's a valid question. A lot about physical attraction, like so many other things, is based on sight. Taking away the most widely-used sense in a person's body leaves a lot of questions to be answered, and hey at least it's not the canned r/askreddit "lol how do blinds use computers omg".

I was fortunate enough to partially form my sexuality when I was sighted, and it's evolved since then without sight. It's a little bit different at firstbut not so much that the two are completely alien to each other.

I used to be able to see, so wasn't an issue for me to realize I'm gay.

For people born blind though, oxytocin and pheromones most likely. Take me for example, if I hug a woman I'm not going to become aroused, simply because I'm gay so my natural mammal instincts aren't going to become aroused by their pheromones, nor will my body give off an oxytocin release. However, if a cute guy gives me a hug, then my body will pick up on the pheromones, release oxytocin, and I become aroused.

That's how. It's all in the biology. :)

Women smell good and they are softer and have a generally different personality to men and their skin is soft and nice and their boobs are squishy and I like that. On the contrary I find men to be generally gross. They smell like deodorant and are hairier and they’re all hard and stuff I don’t know. Women are just magical beings and men are just nice and funny to be friends with. I’m a lesbian by the way.

This has been the best comment. I am also a lesbian.

Well, I am a totally blind virgin at age 28 so maybe I shouldn't answer this question. However, due to the culture I grew up in and due to the fact that any time I had crushed on a friend they were female I assumed I was straight. When I got older I discovered things like

/r/gonewildaudio

and explored some through there and my favourite performers from there are female, I also like the team of women from Audio Excite (and am always looking for recommendations) I also play "games" on

www.chyoa.com

and read erotic penthouse style stories.

let's see for me I started noticing I was attracted to other guys in high school and was watching gay porn also. and experimenting with a male friend for a few years helped confirmed I was gay. THat and when I tried straight sex with a girlfriend at the time and it going no where. and then the few times I tried again with some other women and it still not working, then only getting turned on with gay porn / gay stories.

So, I'll come right out and say that I'm attracted to very large women. Yeah definitely not the Stevy Wonder stereotype bullcrap. But I also like women that... know what they want and who they are, and have a fascinating mind.

Neither of those attributes, which are just the top two, require sight.
