Capacitive touch interfaces? (self.Blind)
submitted by lhamil64
I've used bump dots a few times to help find buttons on certain appliances (although my vision is good enough that it's usually not necessary) but I started wondering about things that use touch-sensitive interfaces (i.e., capacitive touch, things that don't respond to pressure but electrical contact with your finger)

Do they make touch sensitive bump dots/buttons? I was thinking it might be nice to have one on my washer/dryer's start button but couldn't really find any with a quick search. If not, what do people generally do with that kind of interface?

My kitchen has a stove hood with capacitive buttons. I had someone stick bump dots just above each button. That makes it easier for me to find them, and then I simply move my finger down a little bit. If it's a touchscreen well, I'm open to ideas.

I have the same washer dryer situation. I use clear scotch tape. I just take a tiny rectangular sliver or square piece of clear scotch tape and put it directly on the button I need identified. I do the same for the dish washer. It’s also good if you’re low vision or live with sighted people because it’s clear so most can still read whatever the tape is covering.
