I used to think like that. Then I almost got hit by a car because I didn't know whether it was the right time to cross the road.

Talk to people who had similar experiences and learn what worked for them.

Personally, I'd say go with your doctor's diagnosis of your current vision and prognosis of what your vision might be in 5 - 10 years.

The standardized normal vision is 20/20. Depending on where you live, vision below 20/70 is considered visually impaired. Vision below 20/200 is considered legally blind. To get a driving license in the US or Canada, the vision has to be better than 20/40.

I was told by doctors over 15 years back that vision will never get better than 20/70. On any given day I wake up with 20/200 vision with glasses and by the time I go to sleep my vision drops to 20/400.

I always tell myself that vision loss or visual impairment is not an obstacle to success. If I want something I'll make it happen no matter what.

If you just need to talk to someone, feel free to message me.

All the best.

I still do it. I think, “oh my vision isn’t so bad” until I walk in front of a car or something.

I am totally blind, and I have been so since a very early age,, so adapting has never been an issue for me. The best advise I can give you is accept that you have a visual impairment and start figuring out the things you can do with your vision and the things you can not. Once you know what you can't do with your vision, get training and combine that training with your existing vision. Don't worry about people judging you. You can live a normal life if you decide you want to. Remember to be practical, and be open to doing things differently than other people. You can do it. I live a pretty normal life with no vision, so you should be able to as well.

Good luck.
