Blind / visually impaired users of reddit, what's your perception on "memes" ? Do they make any sense? If so, what is a meme that you have always had a difficult time understanding?(self.Blind)

I'm kind of glad I don't get them / can't access them. I mean that's a half truth, I do come across stuff and I'd love to know what's in them. The thing is, I've seen how memes affect people. It's like a drug, and it turns them into zombies who just stare down at their phones all day.

Now, eeeeeevery once in a while, I'll rickroll someone just because I don't think people expect me to do that, and I mean I don't know how, but the rickroll is timeless.

I recognize that XcQ. I still fall for it occasionally if I'm not paying attention though.

I do not get them at all, as in it is impossible to read them with my screen reader as most of them are text embedded in the graphic. My mom and sister like to find memes and read them to me when they are bored and I always laugh along with them and am always thankful to them for that.

Shameless plug but y'all should check out r/TranscribersOfReddit. We transcribe memes (among other content) for VI people, you can find all the transcribed content at r/tor_archive :)

Some memes I can read but sometimes the text is so distorted or small that I cannot tell what it says

Well, no use for memes in my personal life, obviously.

Currently developing out a large social network platform based on memes for a client though. :) Well, rehauling it because the previous developers were amateurs and he's having growing pains, so getting him setup so he can expand to hundreds of millions of users. Can't wait for this damn project to be over.

Although the project is nothing but memes, I don't ever look at them. No point.

For the most part, I miss out on memes. I can recognize them using an app called seeing AI. It’s pretty hit or miss. I think it depends on the visual complexity of the meme and how critical the visuals are to the humor of the meme. For the memes I don’t get, sometimes friends will step in and do some describing. The text portions of a meme are no problem but very specific or complex visuals are the problem. I think it would be cool if memes had Alt text for the visual elements sometimes. It really depends on the meme though.
