Best Radio App for Siri? (self.Blind)
submitted by ok10minute
My uncle, who is legally blind, is a bit older and a late adopter to technology. He finally converted to an iPhone 2 years ago and I'm so proud of how much he's learned!

He is still using a standalone AM/FM radio headset, and I want to help him use his iPhone for this purpose so he doesn't need to carry another device. Is there a specific radio app or Siri commands that you recommend for ease of use? (I tried a few times on my phone and could not get a radio program to launch without intervention of pressing keys). Thanks in advance!

The best radio app is TuneIn - you should be able to use it with voiceover with no issues. Turn on voiceover under iOS settings accessibility voiceover. See applevis.com for getting started guidance

This is odd. You should be able to use the “Launch _____(app name)_____” command to launch any app on the device

I tried a few times, it will open the app but then just sit at the home page. I was hoping there would be a command directly from Siri to say something like "Listen to 93.3 FM", but there always seems to be additional button presses before the station starts playing.

That's what Voiceover is for, mate. Turn it on in settings > accessibility.
