Hi. I've been wanting to buy a Braille labeler for some time now. Bump dots and memorization serve me fine for the most part, but sometimes I just want a little text on my items. Are there any labelers in particular that you recommend, or can I just go get whatever's on Amazon?

My experience has been that — like many things, labelers have gone down in quality, due to parts being manufactured elsewhere and made up of more plastic parts. I still have a device that was originally sold by LSS Group (from the U.S) in the late nineties, that is made of mostly metal parts. I don’t know if it’s possible to find these ones anymore, but try to find one that is not all plastic. With those, tHe bumps don’t always appear clearly, and even the cutting mechanism isn’t reliable.
I’ll save this post and return to comment with a link, if I’m able to locate a good quality one for you.

Some people like the Reizen one- personally I just like using a slate and stylus as you can write contracted braille and it wastes less tape.
You can buy a slate that has a slot for labeling tape if that’s your thing or get a free slate and stylus from the NFB if you don’t already have one and if you can position the tape yourself. You can even label things with an attachment for a Perkins brailler.
As far as the coolest Braille labeler goes, the 6dot one is super cool looking but so expensive i wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re a professional braille labeler lol.

I like the slate and stylus idea. There aren't very many things I want Braille labels on. Thanks for the info

I don't know but if they take normal labeling tape, get some decent glue, because the adhesive on labeling tape isn't that good.
