Any blind Logic Pro users in here? (self.Blind)
submitted by liamjh27
Hey everyone. Looking for some help with using Logic Pro X with voiceover.
Have a fair bit of experience using Logic from when I was sighted and recently bought a new mac to try get to grips with Logic X now that it’s fairly accessible but really struggling to get to grips with it. Struggling to get the ball rolling with figuring out basic tasks like editing regions in the piano roll or using the step sequencer.
Can find quite a few tutorials using logic with voiceover but they’re for doing fairly complicated tasks. Looking for something just to get the basics down and how to navigate quickly etc.
Any help would be appreciated.

There's still content to be added, but logic.band has some good tutorials to get you going. There's also a keymap you can download with all kinds of shortcuts, and the video tutorials are done using VO.

I'd add that if there's something specific you want to know, contact the admin directly. He's a good dude.

You can also look around on Applevis.com — I know one of the lead developers from Apple posts on there. He seems very aware and considerate about accessibility in the app.

I notice someone already wrote logic.band. Good resource to check out. Theres also a whatsapp group as well as an email list for voiceover users specifically.

Yeah, been looking through a few of the things on there. Some helpful stuff for getting started for sure. Mainly want to find something for editing in the piano roll. At the moment I’m having to turn voiceover off and then just using the repeat and nudge functions and shortcuts for lengthening and shortening notes. I do quite like doing it this way but annoying that voiceover has to be turned off to do it.
Where can I find this WhatsApp group and mailing list? Be interested in that but didn’t see anything on the site? Thanks for the reply!

Send an email to logic-accessibility+subscribe@googlegroups.com to get added, make sure its blank. Then once you're added you can email logic-accessibility@googlegroups.com about whatsapp or generally any questions you may have.
Alternatively, since really if I'm being honest the whatsapp has a bit more traffic, you could pm me your number you use for whatsapp and I could drop one of the admins a note to jump you in. Up to you though, just throwing that out there.

Would it be correct in saying that the later versions of Logic Pro X Are less accessible than the earlier versions?
liamjh27 [OP] 1 points 3y ago
I couldn't say. I used to use logic back when it was logic 9 I used to use that back when I had usable vision, when I started having to use voice-over it was completely inaccessible so I had to give up altogether. this is the first time I’ve used Logic pro X so I’m not sure if earlier builds of it were more accessible or not. From the release notes and engagement from the developers on Apple viz, it seems they have a focus on trying to increase accessibility with each release.
