I use Discord to chat daily with friends. The service has come a long way since when I started, but the accessibility is still disappointing. The Mac client completely broke about 2 months ago. Discord blames electron. I think the Discord developers are just lazy and don't want to fix it. The channel list on the Windows client uses baby logic, in that if a channel isn't visible to a cited user because they need to scroll down, it doesn't exist to a screen reader either. I've complained multiple times, but they usually end up adding other random accessibility features instead of fixing the stuff that really matters. Beyond that, I think they're a shady, shitty company who have proven multiple times that they don't care about their users. From the cub porn and general NSFW content scandal, forcing users into arbitration, and the accessibility problems, I can't stand them.
Unfortunately, I don't have the power to move all of my friends and multiple servers worth of people to another platform, so I'm going to keep using Discord whether I like it or not, but you bet I'm going to give the developers shit. I won't even think of paying for the premium service unless they can get their act together. I hope them moving into the corporate space sends accessibility lawsuits their way. Also why do both the web client and desktop client chew through laptop batteries like there's no tomorrow? It's ridiculous.
