The Guide for Blind Parents (self.Blind)
submitted by CosmicBunny97
Inspired by the last few discussions on raising blind children, as well as blind parents raising children, I figured I’d like to make an unofficial guide. I personally want children in the future, but I’m worried I might not be a good parent or my disability would hold me back. Blind parents, what have you learnt about raising children? What are some good resources, strategies etc?

My parents were blind and although I realise now that my childhood was a bit different from my peers due to that I never thought about that for a second unless people asked me “what’s it like having blind parents”. But I still ask back “ what’s it like having parents who can see?”.
I love that I grew up in an environment that taught me that there is very little blind people can’t do. My parents were amazing and I absolutely believe blindness should not be a hindrance to becoming a good parent!
