I can tell you from personal experience that anything running Android wear will be useless if you use a screen reader. Your best options are to get a Samsung smartwatch which has a better screen reader, but forces you to use Samsung services like Bixby in Samsung pay, or switch over to an iPhone and get an Apple watch.

I really can't stand apple. Gives me motion sickness and screen colors or something gives me really nasty headaches. What about other brands?

Not sure when the last time you tried Apple was, but on the newer phones at least they have motion reduction that has helped me a lot with motion sickness. YMMV though.

That's pretty much it. Android where does feature screen magnification, but I have no experience with that, so if you decide to try that out you're on your own. I do know that talk back runs like garbage though. Nowhere near as decent as on a smartphone. Android smart watches in general have been pretty disappointing, even for sighted people. Samsung offers a smoother experience, and the Apple watch has pretty much been kicking everyone else's ass when it comes to smart watches. Other than that, you've got fitness trackers which are both a toss-up and not what you're looking for.
if you don't want an Apple watch, then I suggest you look at one of Samsung smart watches.

do you get any headaches from watching tvs? I have horrible issues with headaches from tvs, but only started once I tried various new tvs since 2011. Before that, my tvs didn't really bother my head.... and it's hard to track down what is going on because some bother it much more than others.

No, I only get headaches from apple products. My mom has iPhone 10 and when I help her with it bang, headache. I know a lot of VI people really dig apple. I really struggle in most parts with it. On android I love the new dark mode display. And it has actually made me use my remaining vision more. Still not perfect.

The iPhone X uses an OLED panel. Many people dislike them because they use pulse width modulation to control screen brightness. This might be the cause of your headaches. Which Android phone do you use? It might use an LCD panel which usually don't use PWM dimming.

Ask her to enable the accessibility setting "reduce motion". Try it with that setting because that is a setting that many VI people enable.

I recommend the Apple Watch for sure

Smart watches are still not that powerful and are mainly used for fitness tracking and are marketed to those people . I am guessing you don't have a perfect eye sight and given how small even the biggest smart watches are I don't really recommend it. Google assistant assistant is powerful but very badly optimised on watches ( from personal experience) on the other hand apple watches are very well optimised from what I heard .
Our mission is to provide everyone with access to large- scale community websites for the good of humanity. Without ads, without tracking, without greed.
