How to deal with over page ads that block the content of a webpage (self.Blind)
submitted by UpsideDownwardSpiral
I am recently low-visioned and I am having a big problem with websites that use ads that popup in the page and block content.

I can read text OKish, but pictures and graphics just look confusing and I often can't tell what I am looking at. This makes it extremely difficult to close in page ads because A. I usually can't tell that it's a popup covering the content that I'm trying to view. Then B. The 'X' or 'Close' button is generally hidden in the popup to purposefully make it hard to find (even for well sighted people).

I am not talking about pop-ups that open a new tab or window, ad blockers take care of those pretty well.

How do you deal with this issue? I don't currently use any accessibility tools or text readers because I am stubborn. Is there something that I can use to help me with this? I use Google Chrome if that makes any difference.

U block origin on Firefox should do the trick.

You can use the built-in windows accessibility screen magnifier to assist you as well.

Stop being stubborn, there's nothing to gain from it.

Get Brave browser, you can still use the Google search engine on it. It's for all intents and purposes a better version of Chrome, and it's got a built in adblocker that blocks everything.

Hah I use uBlock Origin with Brave. Just because it wasn't blocking some Youtube ads.

Adding on to this, glassbrick is a great, free screen magnifier thats fairly comparable to zoomtext. You can also change the activation keys and customize the settings.

I'll have to look into that.
