Hi everyone;D just wondering, I’ve seen a lot of pics of bad braille sign (like placed in wrong places or have incorrect spellings), does that happen in daily life a lot?
Plus this is not related but is there any kinda artwork designed for visual impairments?
Any reply'd be helpful! Cheers!

Speaking of Braille and artwork when you get bored please look up Elegant Insights Braille Creations you can create custom jewellery with Braille on it.
I hope to maybe go into the Braille transcription field as I am a regular Braille reader. I would be writing up Braille probably for students or for libraries.

That looks awesome thanks for telling me this! Braille transcription’s literally so much fun! I’m sure you’ll be able to make it ;D

I've seen braille put in some odd spots sometimes.
One company had signs with room numbers in print and braille... but put them at the TOP of the door frame. I could reach it, but shorter people would have trouble, if it even occurred for them to look at them. Luckily, they moved them to the side soon afterwards.
Another one was a braille sign next to an exhibit that was allowed to be touched (it was a large flat rock mounted onto a wall). However, because some people are assholes, people ended up damaging it, so they had to put a large plexiglass sheet over the entire exhibit, including the braille sign. I don't know if they moved the braille sign onto the plexiglass or not, I haven't been there in a while.

Glad to know they moved the signs at last ;D Those jerks sound a bit annoying.. it sounds like it should a super cool exhibition if they kept their hands polite eww - but anyways really thanks for the reply!

I live in Paris and I love to go to art museums. In some select museums - like the Louvre, they have tours specifically for the blind and visually impaired, where you can touch the sculptures amongst other things. It’s honestly very fun.

That sounds awesome! Gotta go there when I pay France a visit !

Incorrect braille signage is commonplace worldwide. The Australian Braille Authority's Facebook page publishes photographs of some of them.

Cheers! I’ll go check it out

Is it? I’ve not come across signs in the UK.
There’s braille on the ATMs and lifts but that’s it as far as I know.

My uni’s in UK and the Braille sign next to our lift is spelling super wrong.. (but that’s the only case I’ve seen

That would be fun to read.

I do not use braille to navigate but I can read it pretty fluently. Bad braille signs are a huge pet peeves of mine. My school had ones that were spelled wrong. Like they had the word accessible written above the braille but the braille letters read accesible. Drove me nuts. I've noticed others in other schools in my area. One school where I would go for academic competitions had restroom signs that would read Women's Restroom in print but then something like Womi Restrm in braille. In both cases, the reader can figure out what the braille was trying to say, but that shouldn't have to be the case.
As for your question about art for people with visual impairments, yes there are things. Most of it is tactile art that we can feel. One example I have isn't anything mainstream, however, I think it is a good example. When I was little, a friend of my grandma's made me a quilt of some teddy bears riding a horse. This was before we knew what my vision would be like and if I would really be able to see at all. The lady made sure to use all kinds of buttons and string and different fabrics so that I could feel all of the different things on the quilt. Things like the bears having super soft fluffy fut and the horse's mane being made out of strings and so on. I'm sure there are more well known examples out there, but nothing ice experienced.

My college had a women's restroom sign with bad braille. I always thought it was funny, because no one else was ever going to know.

That’s super annoying to know when they have the signs but having the wrong ones, It’s just dealing with some grade 1 Braille letters but but sometimes they just don’t bother to make them right, ewww The teddy riding a horse must so adorable!!! I’ll go check if there is artwork similar to this kind, but to me it sounds like one of the cutest stuff in the world now haha Thanks so much for your reply!
