Ramble Tag Guidance Aid for visually impaired people (self.Blind)
submitted by mesideout
I hope this is helpful information to visually impaired people and their guides.

As we come out of lockdown, many people are worried about contact with their guide / assistance staff. If you haven't heard of the Ramble Tag, it's a guidance aid worn around the upper arm or wrist of a guide, offering an alternative to touching arms, hands, clothes etc.

They are going to be offered by rail and airport assistance staff over the UK and Ireland as an alternative to be given a wheelchair. Invented by a blind man and his neighbour (myself) in 2018 as a tool for more independence, but during this time people are also finding them very useful.

The RNIB can help with more information or contact Ramble Tag.

I would just use some rope. or something.

Could do :) This might be easier and more comfortable for both users though.

I’ll pass thanks.

I’ll just ask them to walk next to me or near me.

I didn’t like rains as a kid and doubt I’ll use these.

It won't be for everyone :) Just an option that many blind people are enjoying. There's a 14 day return period if it's not suitable for any reason.

That’s great :)
