Implanting beads is the way to go. A bit hard-core though. Im covered in tattoos and cannot see any of it. Im looking into scarfification myself. And implanting magnets to help me sense my surroundings. Yes, you can implant magnets under the skin and use them to sense your surroundings. Im also looking into other things that can be implanted to aid my senses or use somehow to benefit my life.

scarification would make readable braille bumps, maybe thats the method they used?

Im assuming its just a tattoo done in 2D braille unless she had body mods to add beads under it...which would be pretty intense.
