Pretty much what the title says. The ThinkPad x1 carbon seems interesting, but laptops have given me a load of nasty surprises: everything from horrible audio to Braille translation getting tripped up. Seems like a decent laptop, but I want to hear if anyone has used it, or other thinkpad device. Most intense thing I might do is export some voice work in Reaper. Long as audio and Braille work fine, I should be good. I'm done looking for laptops with a numpad built-in. I'll just get an external Bluetooth unit or something

I've used around 10 different ThinkPad models (mine and other's). Sound was always good, though some have a touchscreen-like volume button which I found quite annoying (and I can see).
I do not know how they work with Braille and I haven't used the newer models, but I do think they're trustworthy. I hope someone else can help you more.

Not sure if it's useful but are use a ThinkPad T4 50 and really like it. The sound sometime does fade in and fade out at the start and end of speech but it's so slight that I barely notice it only does it sometimes.

X1 Carbon’s audio card has a pretty aggressive power save, but $1 and $1. Lenovo Vantage is mostly accessible via UI Automation although you may need to use object nav to get to some things.

Oh, I can't stand laptops that do that. Thank you for letting me know

Sadly you are going to have that issue with the vast majority of modern machines.
