Blind bitcoin investors? (self.Blind)

I'll also crosspost this to a more general Btc sub, but I just wanted to check at the source.
I'm blind and hoping to get into Bitcoin. Are there any accessible means of purchasing btc? I do own a percentage of one on Robinhood, but everyone I talk to says owning btc on Robinhood isn't the same as owning btc. Their reasoning is abstract af to me until someone essentially boiled it down to, "robinhood can lose everybody's bitcoin and then there's nothing any user could do about it, due to the nature of btc." And I got it. If I've learned wrong or could do with some updating on this, I'd love to hear it.
Anyway, I'd like to get out of Rh and just start buying my own Btc. Can anyone recommend an accessible platform to buy? I always hear about Coin-Base, but have heard that it's a struggle with screen reader access.
Beyond that, I also hear I need something called a Bitcoin wallet. Is it possible/practical to have one of these on my phone?

Yeah, Coinbase is a very reputable company, and go ahead and use them to purchase your BTC. After purchase though, then withdraw it to your own wallet such as Electrum, or whatever you decide.
It's your life, and up to you. Personally speaking though, I would never, ever, ever let a third party hold onto my bitcoin. There's been way too many hacks and thefts within the industry to allow for me. I know, I battle the hackers on a daily basis, and have done so for years. They are very good at what they do.
Personally for me, the only person who has access to my bitcoin is me. I'm the only one with the private key, I wouldn't have it any other way as that's the whole point of bitcoin (be your own bank), and I would always suggest anyone do the same. Bitcoin is very secure if you do it properly.
