I'm sick of having to clear my entire schedule every time I drop something on the ground!(self.Blind)

Not much else to say really. Been searching for a battery cover that went flying :(

Go grab your cane or a broom, lay it on the ground, and sweep it from side to side slowly with as much of the cane contacting the ground as possible. It’s not great for cluttered areas, but can really expand how much you can search at one time of open areas. Also, be my eyes is a great app for this. Also, searching for stuff SUCKS!

Idk what I’m doing on this sub but same thing for sighted people. I dropped an entire gallon water jug and it disappeared into another dimension.
Edit: I meant this to be funny. I know it’s a lot easier for me to find stuff just looking around, but sometimes even with vision a portal appears when you drop it from your hand to the floor. *Bounce* where is it? Am I sitting on it?

Always had that problem with pencils and school. I dropped one, and then it would decide to roll 20 miles in some random direction.

Nah nah nah, when you drop a pencil it goes into a strange pocket dimension where a woman called "the one" uses her magical powers to duplicate your pencil, and give you back the copy after a few minutes. It's the only thing that logically makes sense

Especially if the floor is slightly sloped, too

My personal problem is losing one of a pair of shoes. My partner is under standing orders to report anything he finds lying around on the basis that I might have lost it. And I might have lost it quite some significant time ago.

Put the shoes under or next to the bed.

I have Ushers and dropped my tan hearing aid onto a brown carpet once when I was renting. Had to go to work, leave after lunch, use up my 3-4 hours of vacation time all to find the hearing aid after shaking the blanket on the bed.
Even had a friend come over too. That experience SUCKED.

Listen to it fall and deduce the general area where it landed from that. If you can't find it from running your hands around the area, take out your phone, download Be My Eyes, open it and connect with a helper via your phone's back camera. Problem solved.

I dropped an entire box of clear thumbtacks onto shag carpet once. I was barefoot. It sucked.

Aira it’s free for five minutes at a time, so they can also be really great at helping you find things. They are specifically trained on how to explain and give instructions to blind people, and I love them so much.

When I lose one of my RGP contact lenses, it feels like I'll spend the rest of my life that I have the miniscule amount of vision I have left looking for it. Thank fuck my fiancee nearly always saves the day.

I once dropped a pencil on the floor that was gray, and the pencil was gray. It was the middle of the lesson and I had no more and I didn't want to ask, but the teacher saw I was concerned and scolded me on how I should get neon pencils.

Cane sweeping, does the trick quite often.
bradley221 points3y ago
There’s BeMyEyes if you have IOS.
browneye541 points3y ago
Have you try using your cane to sweep along the floor?
