Question about assistive tech certification (self.Blind)
submitted by Prefect316
First of all, I'm a big proponent of assistive tech. I also enjoy taking things that don't really work and adapting them to do so.

I'm also a copywriter. I'm noticing as I googlearound that there aren't a ton of copywriters in the assistive tech field, and I think I'd be great at it. However, I'm a writer and don't have any techy certification beyond being a user my whole life. Can anyone recommend any certifications that will look good on my resume and also help me better explain and write for the medium?

Look into the ATP certification from Resna, the CPACC certification from IAAP and the CATIS certification from ACVREP.

I think I understand your question, but I’m sorry if this isn’t the right answer. With writing and creative fields your portfolio is what gets you jobs. My advice would be to do some copy writing about assistive tech, and use that to market your skills. A certificate might not be necessary.

Work with a bunch of copywriters—it’s your portfolio that gets you the job. If you build your portfolio around accessibility then you can land a gig where they’ll pay you to become certified just so they can market your work as certified.
