Apple Watch (self.Blind)
submitted by Broken_Peepers
If you own an Apple Watch, why as a blind person do you like having it? I'm heavily considering getting one. I probably would have sooner, but my work normally does not allow them. Since I am now working from home, that isn't an issue.

Easier to tell time. You can have it speak to you and it can vibrate the time too. I like hearing the notifications and the activity tracking too. I really recommend one, but get the Series 3 at the very least.

Thanks for the response. I'll probably wait until the fall, and either get the Series 5 or, presumably, 6.
How often do you leave your phone at home and just wear the watch?

I don’t have the cellular version so I can’t answer that

Thanks, all, for you're replies. I'll probably get one once the new models are released. I think I will enjoy being able to control my HomeKit devices with it.

It’s easy to tell time, I like that it vibrates when I get a message/a call so i dont have to pick up my phone to know I don’t care, I use it a lot to set up timers with siri and I like the work out features things. It’s not the most necessary piece of tech in the world, but it’s pretty cool.

I primarily use mine for fitness tracking and discretely checking the time using the vibration feature. Sometimes I use it for controlling media playback too. Personally, I love mine and would recommend them to other interested blind folks.
