Youtube is so cluttered as of late (self.Blind)

Ok so yah, so tired of going onto Youtube and having to scroll past so many ads while looking through video suggestions. Also, sometimes when I type something into the search field, It brings up products and where I can buy whatever it is when I'm not looking for any of that grrr. I come to Youtube for videos. Lol I'm on IOS. Really wish there was something less cluttered with crap than the current Youtube app. Oh well.

Yep. And it’s not much better if you pay for premium. No ads, but you get tons of suggestions for movies, shows, and stories that for me, are totally unrelated to my commonly liked content. I think their algorithm has taken a turn for the worse.
I’ve heard there are third-party apps that are supposedly “better than the official app”, but I personally don’t know of any specific ones, or if they are usable with VoiceOver/etc.

Which is why I've moved completely to things like PeerTube and Funkwhale. Invest in the Fediverse. It's far better.

I totally agree. However, I do wanna point out that the ads, stories thing, and other annoying featured sections do visually appear as horizontal carousels. As a voiceover user, that sucks for me because it means flicking right only moves me deeper into the carousel. A easy way to avoid this is to three finger swipe up once you’re at the beginning of one of these things then plant your finger toward the bottom of the screen and you’re usually passed it. You could flick left once or twice to confirm that you’ve passed it because that’ll move the cursor back up into the end of those annoying things.

Yah the stories thing is there in one part, but the ads are spaced throughout my video surfing. It's stupid grrrr. I think the story thing usually shows up at the beginning of the video list. Also, There are videos I have never shown any interest in whatsoever, like stuff about covid or whatever. Just miss how Youtube used to be only a few months ago sigh.

Ah I see. The ads are also a thin horizontal strip that can be quickly skipped over by dragging your finger toward the bottom of the screen or using the other method but I feel you. YouTube is way more cluttered with ads these days. Annoying indeed.

Try using the three finger swipe up or down once or twice to get past the adds.
