Bioptic driving (self.Blind)
submitted by Rb878
Is anyone familiar with bioptic driving? I’ve read it’s legal in 45 states and enables people with vision impairments to get their drivers license.

It's going to depend on your specific vision, but I remember looking into it, since I'm on the cusp of legally blind. I can't remember what state it was, but you had to take the test without the bioptics, and I just didn't think I would be able to do that. I've also driven a few times in safe conditions with trusted people, and it was kind of exhausting. If that doesn't pan out, I know some people end up going for a moped license instead, in case you hadn't thought of that.

I live in Ohio and they allow you to use the bioptics for the vision and driving tests.
I just wondered how difficult it is.
The moped license is something to think about
Thanks

Why are you asking? Are you interested in bioptic driving personally?

Yes I’m interested I bioptic driving personally. I wondered if anyone else had completed the training and what it was like.
