There’s a charity called Henshaws in Manchester I think they offer services like this. If they don’t they would definitely be able to direct you to the right place. Good luck.

RNIB will know where to go. I'm not a huge fan of them as an organisation but most of this will be out of house I would think. If this person has a ophthalmology consultant then that person may also be able to make a referral but that may take a while.
For what it's worth, I have now seen several people go through this, or in the immediate aftermath of this, and there will be high and low spots and there is nothing you can do to avoid that. I am absolutely not a mental health specialist and on one occasion I have passed someone I was mentoring along for exactly the sort of professional help you're talking about. You have to recognise when it's outside something you can deal with. But be prepared for the extremes, I guess. If this person is anything like people I've known, or like I was, then everyone in this person's orbit will catch some of it.
The long term reality is, you will be amazed by how okay it becomes after a while.
