Big cities are easier. I would never want to live out in the sticks. In cities there are cabs, ubers, way more people and more things within short distances. Even right down to more navigation landmarks and more learnable routes. Out in the country everything is fields!

Have you had your needs assessment for the university yet?
That can take a little time to get moving. Will also provide lots of orientation training if that's what you ask for

Aston or Birmingham or Birmingham City or Newman or University College Birmingham?

Then you are out at the Edgbaston campus in not that close to the centre of town.
It's late now so I'll try and add more in the morning. You could also try asking on /r/brum/ for Birmingham UK
If you don't already use a big white cane then now is the time to get one even if you can manage without one as they are a great tool for signalling to other people that you might not see them clearly.

Ask the local council for orientation and mobility training around your area. They'll also be able to help you familiarise with your surroundings e.g tell you about local shops and provide you information about public transport.
The best thing you can do is try to make a couple of good friends who can help you through university and make your time worth while. Cities are an amazing place for blind people, I'm sure you'll enjoy the experience.

You might want to clarify which country you are in as there is a Birmingham in the UK, as well as at least one in the US.

Thank you I'm in the UK.

Should be, but you've also mentioned it in your comment so you're all good :)
