Yeah that's the first thing I thought of too but there has to be a more well thought of answer somewhere lol

I don't think you need to explain water to a blind person. They have leaned what it is through the same living experience that sighted people do. We all form our knowledge of things like that through experience.

How would you describe water to a sighted person who has somehow lived thier life without bathing, or drinking, or felt rain?

The water in a glass is different than the water that falls when it rains. As an educator I'd teach students the water cycle, and then about filtration systems used to clean the watter we are going to drink.

You actually have a really good point. I don't even know why I thought of this but I did lol. Thank you for answering

Did you mean describing how it looks? Because that is somewhat interesting since water is transparent and if you open your eyes under water, it distorts your vision etc. It's not the same colour in every lake or river or bathtub. There are all sorts of things that are weird about the visual experience of water that would almost make it sound like, to a blind person, us sighted folk are just making it all up.

What colour is it?
It varies...

Can you see through it?
Yes, if it's clear enough. Sometimes far, sometimes not far at all.

The shape obviously varies, but this is discernible by touch.

Sometimes it sparkles in the sun, sometimes it looks like glass, sometimes it just looks white (a waterfall).

I think it's an interesting question

Why would you need to describe it, fully blind children just learn the feel of it
FlashyDolphin [OP] 1 points 2y ago
Yeah I probably should've given it more thought. I clearly was not thinking straight lol. Thanks for your answer though.
