This isn't the place for medical advice, but I would say that when you're worried about a specific condition, it's always a good idea to work on your baseline health.

That being said, I'm not a doctor, neither is anybody else here, neither is your optician. You should go see an opthalmologist to get the most authoritative advice.

My ophthalmologists tell me nothing. They do the tests and send me home then send my doctor a letter a month later. Everything I know about RP I’ve had to find out myself. Pretty shitty to be honest.

I wasn’t here to “ask medical advice” as such. Apologies if it came across like that. I was wondering if other people with RP had been told the same thing from their optician/ optometrist/ ophthalmologist/ doctor. Whether it is common knowledge and widely known/accepted or if it is not common advice.

Like I say - I’ve had to do my own research and I haven’t come across this advice before so not sure if it’s unusual.

Just to be perfectly clear, opticians and ophthalmologists aren't different titles for the same job. Opticians have very little formal training compared to ophthalmologists who have medical degrees and have specialized in eye disorders.

Yeah I get that

Sorry, I just wanted to be sure you were talking to the right people.

They really should keep you in the loop. Remember: they work for you. You can and should ask questions and they need to answer you.

As far as doing your own research, have you tried PubMed? When I was wondering about dietary changes that could affect internal ocular pressure I asked my specialist and he wasn't aware of anything of note besides "eating healthy." Then I found a couple of review papers that came to the same conclusion, but suggested limited evidence for some concrete things. You might find something similar to that.
