Accessible Drinking Games? (self.Blind)
submitted by dj_magician
Hello reddit, I have got a bunch of friends who all like to drink semi-responsibly. Title pretty much says it, but one of our friends is blind and we want to include her in our drinking games. All of the drinking games I know require either playing cards or some kind of visual coordination (e.g. beer pong). "Never have I ever" is accessible but we all kind of know each other too well for that to really be entertaining. Anyway just wondering if you guys had any ideas, sorry if this has been posted before.

A few ideas: music quizes or other audio quizes via an Alexa (a losers drink or something), any kind of accessible games that you could order (Target sells braille Uno), etc.

Also, there's a (french?) drinking game called Cheers to the Governor where you count up to 21 (clockwise 1...2...3...etc). Person who gets 21 is the governor and you all 'cheers' them and drink. Then the new governor makes a rule for one if the numbers (ex: say "mambo" instead of 5, or switch the numbers 7 and 11). Start clockwise from the governor and go around now with the new rule. If someone messes up a number or rule they drink and you start again from the next person after them. The rules can stack infinitely until you're all sloshed! You can even have actions in the rules ("pat your head") and have everyone but your blind friend police it, or (ideally) just have an audio cue for all the rules even when there's a physical component. Good luck :)

Alternate version of this game is called sevens. You can either say one or two numbers. So let’s say I said one too, then you could say 34, the next person could say five, then the next person six. Anyone who says seven, a number with seven in it, or a multiple of seven, Hass to drink if they don’t realize. Because you don’t say the word seven, you say the word drink in place of it. I love this game because I rule at math. I also love this game because loads of my friends don’t rule at math. Everyone forgets where the sevens are. Also if you are doing card based games, there are loads of places which sell braille decks. They have regular ones and Uno ones if you want.

yeah that sounds more like a math game and less like a drinking game 😅 but to each their own. Def agree on the braille cards idea

To me, I think beer pong, quarters, flip cup, anything is great... We are the winners in the end because we will be the worst so we get to drink the most

Yes beer pong is doable, just takes a bit to get the proper aim and bounce. Flip cup is completely workable since the cup is right in front of you. King's Cup is probably my favorite of the card games, and it doesn't even require needing to read the card, someone can do that and you do different things based on the card that is drawn. Have played some various dice games as well. Can either use regular dice or Alexa/Google to roll them. You can also tel the assistants to pick a card or flip a coin.

Doesn't the Alexa Echo have some "party games" apps for this?

I play beer pong and I got no sight, makes it more interesting. Could also have someone stand over at the other end and call or clap so you know where to aim, I've done that sometimes.
