I tried explore mode on the kitchen and I'm very impressed - for a first try, considering I have usable vision.

It told me I had a helmet in the sink among other blunders, but overall it was very good. It does have a signification delay though.

I look forward to testing it out further and setting what it can do.

It's not useful to me either, but the technology is impressive and interesting.

I could see it being handy if you're totally blind and don't want to touch stuff, in this day and age. Or for finding an object you've dropped.

It identified all my appliances at a glance and I could see that being useful when you get to a new place you've never been. You could scan a hotel room from left to right and get a decent idea of what's around you, for example.

Here's an advantage compared to BeMyEyes: it works without an internet connection.

It does say all the processing happens on the device, but you never know, right? So I turned off WiFi and mobile data and food a similar test and it worked just fine.

So I closed my eyes and tossed a pen on the floor. It said there was food and tableware on the floor and mistake office chair casters for shoes BUT it led me to the pen.

Not too shabby.

Of course it would be amazing on a Google Glass type device.

+1 for the food labels feature. Unlike Seeing AI, it appears to be using images from the packaging instead of bar codes, and I find it identifies items more quickly.
