Accessible musical ear training (self.Blind)
submitted by WhatWouldVaderDo
Does anyone know of any screen reader accessible ear training software? I'm specifically talking about intervals, chords, etc. Thanks.

Hi, I'm not sure if it's exactly what you're looking for, but I made an Android app for melodic practice, that works with screen readers to tell you which notes are playing. It's not a formal ear training system or anything, it's a tool that generates melodies in various scales that you can use for practice - so you can use it for ear training by generating phrases and trying to copy them, or testing your recognition

If you do try it out I'd appreciate any feedback, even if it's not what you're after! Especially if you don't use TalkBack specifically - getting it to read note names normally is surprisingly tricky

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, I don't have an Android device right now. When I can get my hands on one, I'll give it a try.

Oh no worries, thanks!

I did try out a couple of ear training apps I have on my phone with the screen reader enabled, but I don't have enough experience to give recommendations - Perfect Ear was the best (that's on iOS too) but it's more that its design doesn't hide important information like some of the others. I didn't test every section of the app, but it's free (with paid content) so it might be worth a try if you have an iPad or whatever
