How to get a book to learn braille (self.Blind)
submitted by Sujuka99
My girlfriend has lately been interested in learning braille and I want to surprise her with a book to learn from.
We have no problems with sight, she is just curious. We live in the Netherlands. Can you give me suggestions what to buy and where I can find it. So far I've gathered that "Just enough to know better" is a great starter book, but I can't find it anywhere online in the Netherlands.
I prefer a book with the physical dots, not just drawn, but at this point Im fine with the drawn ones, too.
I need it delivered on the 23rd of this month..
(I know, I know, Im late..)

Thank you so much to everyone who responds!

www.uebonline.org is much better than a book because it offers interactive exercises—and it's free.

Just Enough to Know Better: large print and braille (seems to be fine from what I can tell, but I cannot pin down an exact publication date; this is important because Unified English Braille (UEB), was adopted in 2004-2010 in many countries):

$1

Learn Braille Unontracted and Contracted: Unified English Braille (I feel comfortable with option too; note that it is in print):

$1

Unified English Braille Code (has everything in an order, but this isn't a curriculum, rather a resource. once you learn how the code works, this could be your go-to):

[http://www.iceb.org/Rules%20of%20Unified%20English%20Braille%202013%20(linked).pdf](http://www.iceb.org/Rules%20of%20Unified%20English%20Braille%202013%20(linked).pdf)

Dutch Braille Code (\*\*different than UEB Code\*\* has everything in an order, but this isn't a curriculum, rather a resource. once you learn how the code works, this could be your go-to):

$1

World Braille Codes (Dutch Braille alphabet can be found on page 190 of the digital document or page 174 is reading page numbers):

$1

Thanks!
You're awesome!

Just read this. Let me look around. Will get back to you shortly. There won't be much luck finding raised dots because that is more expensive, but we can get you a decent print book.

Do you want Dutch braille or English?
