Is there an accessible journaling or note-taking app that supports the Apple Pencil?(self.Blind)
submitted by flipwizardb
I am tech support for a journaling program and one participant, who is blind, has reported that using a pen and paper is very difficult and painful. I am trying to find alternatives for her. The challenge is that in this particular program, it's mandatory to write your notes by hand. No typing. Does anybody have a good recommendation?

That sounds like a refusing to provide reasonable accommodations issue, nothing more.

Thank you for responding.

I think you will need to make an exception and let your participant type. If they know braille (fairly unlikely), they could use a slate and stylus for writing braille, though those are slow going. There is also a brailler, but that seems pointless as it is also a form of typing.

Thank you for your input. I will bring this up with her and the facilitator.

Is the size of the writing a problem? For some of my clients, the print is too small, so they use a felt tip pen and write larger. But depending on the felt tip pen, there is also bleed through.
You mentioned blind but also that using a pen was difficult, so not sure if she has enough vision for large print or not.

I will bring that up with her, thank you.

I don’t know any apps that will help. I don’t think hand writing notes is a really great option. The only thing I could think of is if you used a braille writer
