I have been working on an app that people with visual disabilities can use to load data from any database by speaking their requests in simple English language. somebody can for instance load data from sales, with specific criteria. I will like to know if my project really makes sense to you thank you.
If some of you are willing to help me with some suggestions I will be very grateful. Thanks.

Noble of you to take on this project, but to be honest, I think it's a whole lot of work for very little benefit. Everything from supporting the various database engines out there and their nuances with SQL syntax, analying the database tables and columns, the NLP module that would be required, etc.

Can only speak for myself, but I'm perfectly happy with just screen reader and terminal while connected to the database prompt.

What kinds of databases, and what makes speech recognition better for this than just using a computer like we normally would?

> kinds of databa The idea is to give full independence to a person with some visual limitation or missing some technical skills to analyze data from an existing database like an E-commerce store database ( Could be a spreadsheet or an API as well ). The app is designed to work with speech for information extraction rather than a general-purpose speech recognition used to navigate in a graphical interface. You write a request for example: "what are the total sales by product for this month ordered from the highest total sales" will show the list of products their respective sales ordered beginning from the highest value. Classical computer speech recognitions are not able of making calculations and linking multiple data sources information to bring every result you need.

I don't know any blind person who uses voice recognition as an input method any more than other people do. I think people confuse voice recognition (speech to text) with speech synthesis (text to speech). Blind people use speech synthesis all the time, and we learn touch typing like everyone else.
