So I started vaping weed a little while ago. Now that I know I like it, I'd like to have something a bit more permanent than disposable ecigs. I'm considering getting a battery and disposable pods, but I'm also curious about dry herb vapes and refillable tanks.

It's pretty easy to get this stuff in California, but I'm mostly concerned with accessibility. How do I even do this? How would I measure out herb or oil or wax? Do they even make accessible vapes? How would I know when my cannabis is nearly running dry or spent? Is the extra trouble worth it or should I stick with my pods idea? Thanks for your help.

I personally use bongs as they are easy to fil and use Although I do have a G pen roam for dabbing It has tactile buttons a reasonable bright screen and is easy to fill with the provided tool The fact that the temperature goes up in increments of 25 and haptic feedback makes it very easy to use if even completely blind It is a bit pricey but definitely cheaper than a puffco As far as mamaterial pods and carts can be a bit suspect at times, dry herbs don’t require much vision it’s more feel and skill that’s need and for concentrates the old school method is def not that accessible but I am thinking about getting the g pen connect to see if it is but the way with the g pen roam and other dab pens or eriges are your safest bet Do keep in mind dabbing is weed concentrate and is super potent less is more Hope this helps stay lifted and remember we gifted

Definitely look into the PCKT One Plus. It's just for oil cartridges but it works great. Any 510 thread cartridge will fit with their magnetic adapters (easy for taking in and out as you may use various carts at one time). Five clicks on / off. The button has a light around it indicating battery and heat settings. Click once for battery (green is is high, yellow is medium, red is low). The three heat settings are low (blue), medium (yellow), and high (red). You can either pull to vape or hold the button to let it heat up before you take a toke. It's really good for controlling how big a dose you would like to take. You can get big clouds or, if you pair it with, a Smoke Buddy, no clouds at all. It's aptly named too because it fits perfectly in your pocket.

Sounds interesting. I've only got light perception. Is it just the LEDs on there? No screen? How do you know when it's up to temperature?

The light is behind an oval button with the light coming from the edge of the button. No screen. I have to get it close to my face to see it. It's ready to go as soon as you turn it on. You don't have to press the button to use it. But you can if you want it heated for longer before you pull. The first time you pull after you turn it on it isn't as hot as the second but that shouldn't be a big deal. It's not a big difference at all. When I need more than usual I hold the button down for 1.5 secondsbefor pulling and continue holding until I'm done. The medium heat setting is most comfortable for me.

Hey, me again. After a bit of research, this seems like one of the best options out there. Pretty much the only thing that bugs me about it is that it uses micro usb, but most vapes seem to still use it unfortunately. How long do you usually go between charges?

Just my personal experience, all of which was before my sight loss. Dab vape pens for bot dry and oils were still much less prevelant, but my go-to was always a disposable pen that took cartages. I am fairly sensitive to THC and I LOATHE getting too high, regardless of strain. I had tried a dry herb pen, that I didn't particularly like because there was such a degradation of the vape from fresh herb to when it started becoming 'spent'. Being so sensitive to THC I couldn't imagine using the kind of vape pen that produce massive clouds of vape= personal preference. Also, I am curious how an accssible refillable pen could work without using only a specifically built system that included a syringe that was notched with volume notations.
When I end up using it again, I will go back to a rechargable battery and a disposable cartridge- because the cartridge will last me long enough to make it cost effective for me.

Interesting. I use it for dysphoria, but I also do enjoy those powerful highs. I'm def leaning toward the battery+cart solution for convenience and discretion, but I'll look into the other suggestion here first.

My bad, thought I was replying to you.. replying to me... my first big mistake as a blind man on reddit
Yeah, this is what you would put your prefilled carts in. You're welcome to refill a reusable cart but I wouldn't suggest it. Not a very good option for us blind people. The PCKT One Plus is perfect for discretion, ease-of-use, and killer sessions. I'm sure you've heard of the Smoke Buddy before but if you're looking to be discrete those a perfect pair.

Check out the stuff that Yocan has. They offer videos on their site showing use of their products. I have a Magneto dab pen and a Vane dry herb pen from them and both are top shelf products. The Magneto is magnetic instead of screw in and even has a built in dab spoon and silicon stash container. Trust me, it's worth it to get a dab pen. The Vane is capable of up to 480 degrees.

Do you have any experience with the Uni?

I use a focusvape. It’s for dry herbs, but they do offer one called a tourist that is for both wax, oil’s, and dry herb. The thing I really like about it it is that it gives haptic feedback when it's finished heating up and ready to go, and when you change temp settings.

I used to regularly use a dry herb vape and it worked great for me.
All dry herb vapes are pretty easy to pack with no vision so it shouldn't be a problem. Regarding knowing when they're ready to hit, I know some of them actually vibrate when they're ready and others get hot to the touch so that's a pretty good indicator. you can usually tell when it's spent once the vapour starts tasting a little burnt. It's hard to describe the taste but once you do it, you'll get to know what I mean.
