My totally blind grandfather trying lsd (self.Blind)
submitted by outlawkyboe
My grandfather has RP and is totally blind now. he's tried lsd and other psychedelics when he was younger but how would it affect him now? Since rp is just with the eyes could his brain "make up" patterns it stuff for him to see? Just curious I want to do it with him and he wants to try it again but is weary do to the unknownness of it all. Any advice/ story's would be awesome!!! Thank you kind people

If he has a sense of what vision is, he will most certainly see visuals when doing psychedelics. It may resemble the visual halucinations that he had when doing the same drug before, or it may be completely different, This is from my own understanding of how these things work, with some personal experience going blind, but not having done LSD, or other psychedelics since my recent blindness.

I would be happy to discuss more if you want to PM chat with me, I would rather not have a full discussion openly. I am not an expert about being blind or on psychedelics, but have experience with both. I would like to hear your story, and offer mine as well.

in this regard there are two different types of blindness. people who's eyes don't work properly and people were the part of their brain responsible for processing information isn't doing its job.

it sounds like your grandfather is the type were its his eyes that are the problem. depending on how long he has been blind the part of his brain that processes visual information might have atrophied from not being used. from what i have read, it may still be possible to have visuals but its hard to say how clear they will be. it might just be colours or blurry patterns. my theory is that it will be a workout for his brain and if he starts using LSD often the visuals will become sharper... but he would have to do them regularly for a long time.

but i am just some guy on the internet who has done a lot of reading. so take this comment worth a grain of salt.

Reddit is weirdly fascinated with the blind communities experience with psychedelics

Cause its my grandfather and being totally blind living in a void world only relying on feel and can't even see light/dark I want to help him experience things safely

As it should be. When I was researching about LSD, there was one report of a blind person doing it that I could find. It was woefully lacking, and as such I really didn’t know what to expect. I really need to write a report at some point.

I use hallucinogens all the time. Fun. But beware.

Is it more auditory for you then? Curious about this myself having never seen but not sure I'm willing to try psychedelics, not yet at least. Lol.

Its definitely more mental, psychological or emotional. Not that visual or audible.

Interesting. You don’t get auditory either then? Nor do I. But my friend who tripped and got visuals also got audible. I wonder if there’s a link between the visual and auditory hallucinations. Also this is my favourite post on the sub in the entire time that I’ve been here.

Lsd I call a gift bag when I describe it to others. You never know what you're going to get tripwire. Shrooms in the other hand sound ripples. Everything is wavy. Its beautiful. Everything different on so many factors and levels. Dmt, wow. Shatters reality.

Well, it's a full sensory experience actually, so it's not like the lack of eyesight prevents him from having quite a trip.

From what I have seen of my friend who lost his vision a bit later in life, he was able to actually get full on visuals when he took LSD. So I am guessing that your grandfather would have the same thing, but I can’t be absolutely sure. I myself don’t get any visuals, because I was born without sight. But I think it’s common for people who lose their site later on to still be able to see you both in dreams and in trips. Good luck tripping. I really want to hear more about this, as there are not nearly enough reports of blind people tripping. Send me a PM if you want to talk more. I am all about this stuff.
