Do y’all have a sense of style when it comes to clothing? (self.Blind)
submitted by Cicebro_
I know that not everyone who is “blind” is completely blind, and can still see to a minor extent. I’m talking about people who can’t.

This is something I’ve been curious about for a while now. Do people who are visually impaired just trust someone’s word on what looks good?

I just want to point out that you put that you just want to hear from the totally blind community, but then you write visually impaired in the next paragraph, which implies some level of vision. It seems like this nuance is meaningful for your question, so I thought it might be helpful for you to understand.

My bad. I didn’t know. Thanks for letting me know.

I don't have any sense of style, and yes, I trust people on something that to me is completely arbitrary.

I do have some preferences for certain fabrics or textures, but colour is completely meaningless to me.

Yeah I do as well. I mean going shopping is more of a sensory thing than anything. I usually have to try things on, which makes the person I'm with not happy.

Most of my shirts are boring but I have a few with sayings or logos on them. I am very casual wearing button down shirts or polo tops that kind of thing.

Lol no way!!

Total from birth and I simply do not. I like wearing dark solid colors since it's not so hard to match those. I tend to stay away from stripes and patterns, but as I start to expand my businesswear wardrobe those patterns may start to sneak back into the routine.

Curious if any fellow blind professionals could share any tips for keeping their fancier wear organized. I'm a 1 suit and a few pairs of slacks kind of guy, but thinking of expanding. Maybe this is a whole other post.

I'm the same way with the solid colors that match.

My friend wears tee shirts from musicians and restaurants he likes. He knows what colors and images are printed on there so he matches them up with holidays or things he is reminded of that day.

I don’t have a sense of stile and don’t care.
hopesthoughts 1 points 2y ago
Hah I don't care either.
bradley22 1 points 2y ago
Yeah, as long as the clothes keep me warm, I could be waring all pink and wouldn't give a shit :)
hopesthoughts 1 points 2y ago
Lol me either!!

I don’t entirely fit your criteria because at the moment, I can see but I can’t see colour or details. I love fashion but trying to find the right clothes is difficult. I like graphic shirts that are embossed, I like basic shirts, and I like dresses.

I fear that I will one day be an 80 year old woman who dresses like a 19 year old. This year I had my first ever custom tailored formalwear made, so I guess I'm growing up. At 41.
