I'm looking for screen reader users to complete a survey on image alt text! ($10 compensation)(self.Blind)
submitted by whackedspinach
I'm a researcher at Carnegie Mellon University developing interfaces to help social media users write better image descriptions. We are looking for people who regularly use screen readers online to complete an online survey comparing alt text descriptions and the information included in them. The survey would take approximately 30-45 minutes to complete. If you participate, you would receive compensation of $10 via Amazon gift card or Paypal. You must be 18 years old to participate and use a screen reader to access the Internet. Please PM me confirming you meet those requirements to receive a survey link to participate or to ask any follow up questions!
We have a limited number of respondents we are looking for, and I will update this post if we hit that!
Thanks for your consideration!

Thanks for the chance to participate, I sent you a PM. I've done studies for CMU before and it's always been a good experience. I really appreciate how much you guys are leading the charge on webaccess through AI.

I use screen readers since I'm 8 or 9. Send me a PM if you still haven't reached the limit of answers.

I don't, primarily, use a screen reader; however, I want to thank you for compensating people that participate in your study; I want to say this is a 'best practice' and a way to *not* get down voted on this sub.

We are thankfully a lab that has some resources to fund this sort of research, which includes compensating participants for our studies.

What sort of confirmation for a screen reader user would you like?
whackedspinach [OP]1 points2y ago
Primarily we are looking for people that use it somewhat frequently online, especially to read alt text for images.

I am all of those things you ask for in your post, blind, screen reader user for years, and over 18. I was just clarifying what sort of proof you would need.
